What is a Home Care Package?

April 19, 2020

A Home Care Package provides government-funded services that will help you to remain at home for as long as possible, as well as providing choice and flexibility in the way that your care and support are provided. Home Care Packages offer a higher level of support if you have more complex needs.

The Australian Government Subsidy

The Australian Government pays a different subsidy amount for each level of Home Care Package:

Home Care Package level Approximate yearly government contribution
Level 1 $8,900
Level 2 $15,700
Level 3 $34,000
Level 4 $51,600

*The government contribution increases each year. These figures are rounded from 2020, referenced from My Aged Care.

There are also a number of other government home care options available. These include short term support following a hospital stay, lower-level support through a Commonwealth Home Support Programme or help designed to reverse or slow the difficulties you are having with everyday tasks.
