What is the Home Care Package (HCP) eligibility?
To be assessed for a HCP you have to go through My Aged Care (MAC), however our team can help guide you through this process. We have a lot of experience supporting older people through their journey.
What are the costs?
The costs for your package depend on whether you have the full pension, part pension or are a self-funded retiree. If you are on the full pension, you likely won’t have to pay anything out of pocket for your care if you receive a HCP. However, otherwise, you might be required to contribute to your HCP funding, paying something called the Income Tested Fee. To find out more, ask our team and we will help explain.
How to Switch.
If you aren’t happy with the help you are getting from your current Home Care Provider, you have the ability to switch. You are entitled to be with a Home Care Provider that best meets your specific needs. Switching to myHomecare is easy. Simply call our Care Experts on 1300 203 903 and we will explain the next steps for switching your package over to us from your current Home Care Provider. We will guide you through the process.
How to get started with myHomecare.
Want to get started with myHomecare? It’s a super easy process. We have happy clients across Port Macquarie who love benefiting from our help in the comfort of their own home.
To get started contact us on 1300 203 903, and we will help guide you through your journey. Whether you have a new package and are looking for a Provider, are with a Provider and looking to switch, are waiting for your funding to come through, or just starting out, we can help.
If you haven’t been assessed for a Package yet, you will need to do this through MAC You can call them on 1800 200 422, or visit their website, to get the process started. If you need family or friends to help you with the process, you can ask them to be present during your assessment. Our friendly Care Experts can also help guide you through the process, so feel free to reach out to us if you need any help along the way. MAC will organise for an assessment to be done both over the phone, and then in person if you qualify, and you will be notified if you are approved for a HCP.
MAC will send you a letter if you are approved for a HCP, listing both your level of funding (from Level 1, through to Level 4) and how long you will likely have to wait until a HCP becomes available. It’s good while you wait to begin researching different Providers. We are one of those Providers, but we recommend speaking to a few different ones to ensure we are the best choice for you and your needs.
Start your care
When you receive your HCP, you will get another letter from MAC, that will give you your Referral Code, which is what your Home Care Provider will use to trigger your funding. Once you choose your Home Care Provider, make sure to give them your Referral Code, if you are switching Providers, you will need to give MAC a call and ask them to retrigger your Referral Code. Once you’ve signed with your Home Care Provider you can get your help started! This will be a range of home help catered to your unique needs helping you live a better life.

The HCP is a government subsidised program designed to help older Australians live at home independently for longer with catered support to match their specific needs. There are four different levels of funding you can be assessed for.
The level of funding you receive is determined by an assessment of your unique needs from MAC, with Level 1 being basic needs, Level 2 supporting clients with low level needs, Level 3 which covers intermediate needs and Level 4 catering for people with higher or more complex needs.
There are a whole range of different supports that you can receive through your HCP to assist with everyday tasks and maintaining your lifestyle. These could range from help with cleaning, shopping or errands, transport to see friends and family, meal preparation, light garden work, or a small respite break for a primary carer. The types of help you receive are in line with your individual needs.
