Your home caring services will be dependent on your unique care needs and the types of support you need to continue living safely and happily in your own home. Personal Care

Personal care describes important supports for individuals with the following types of tasks and more. Grooming, bathing, and dressing and promoting their comfort and well-being.

Domestic & household assistance

Domestic assistance or help with a range of services around the house. Types of services include cleaning, meal preparation, and shopping.

Social support

Support to connect and socialise with people in your community. This could be transport to attend a family function, a support worker to attend appointments with you or other services that help you connect to your community on the Central Coast.

Allied health & therapy

These are care services that are rehabilitative in nature like physiotherapy and occupational therapy, promoting improved mobility and independence.

Nursing care

Clinical support services delivered by a dedicated nursing team. Ensuring individuals' clinical needs are met in line with their care plan in the comfort of their own homes.

Respite care

Respite care is temporary support for caregivers, allowing them a break while ensuring their loved ones' needs are still met. Whether that is overnight care or a few hours of respite care, the support and home care services will be dependent on the client’s care needs.

They will help you find out if you’re eligible for government funding, and explain the steps to get assessed for a Home Care Package and get the home care services you need.

What are the care costs?

Wondering what the care costs are through Home Care Packages? The out of pocket cost of Home Care Packages is dependent on whether you are assessed as having to pay something called the ‘Income Tested Fee’. If you are eligible for a Home Care Package and are a self-funded retiree or on the part pension, you might have to contribute to the funding of your home caring. Home Care Packages give you funding for the home care services you need to continue living safely and happily at home, so it’s always worth looking into them, even if you might have to contribute to some of the funding.

How to switch?

Did you know that if you aren’t happy with the way the business you are with are managing your Home Care Package, that you can switch Providers? Switching to myHomecare is easy! We will do it all for you. First we will arrange appointments with our team to talk through the range of help you’re requiring at home, and make sure we are the right service for you. If you decide that you would benefit from moving your Home Care Package to us, we will arrange a visit with a Care Manager to complete your sign up with us. You just have to let us know who your current Provider is, when you would like to switch and to reactivate your Referral Code with My Aged Care. Our team can guide you through the process and make it a seamless transition for you and your care team.

What services can you receive through a Home Care Package?

There are a whole range of different services that you can receive through your Home Care Package. These could range from assistance with shopping or errands, personal care services, transport to see friends and family, or a small respite break for a primary carer. The types of services you receive are in line with your individual care needs.

How many services will I receive in a week?

The type and frequency of services you receive each week is dependent on your specific care needs. You can speak to your dedicated Care Manager about the types of services you’re interested in, how often you would like to receive them to help you cope at home, and who you would like to deliver them. For instance, you might want a support worker to take you shopping once a fortnight, transport to attend a family lunch once a month, and someone to help with meal preparation three times a week and a carer to visit once a week to give your primary carer a break to go for lunch. The type of support you receive is based on what you need at home, and how frequently you need it.

Who is My Aged Care?

My Aged Care is a website (https://www.myagedcare.gov.au) and contact centre (1800 200 422) established by the Australian Government to help you navigate the aged care system by providing information to you, a family member, friend or someone you are caring for. They are who you apply for help at home through.
